Ben Carpenter

Ben began his career in patient care in 2002, as a certified athletic trainer. It was then when he began working in the outpatient physical therapy setting and in the high school. In 2008, he completed his certificate in orthotics from Northwestern University. He has been a certified orthotist since 2011. The passion to serve each patient to their potential is his driving force each and every day. In 2014, he decided to seek his prosthetics certificate while also completing his master’s degree in orthotics and prosthetics. Anticipated degree completion is spring 2016.

His special interests include patients with CVA, TBI and pediatrics.

Ben’s greatest joys include his wife Becky, and their two sons. Together they enjoy camping and family activities.

Chuck has been at Oakland Orthopedic since 1988. He became a BOC-certified orthotist in 1996. In 2004, he received his ABC certification in orthotics. He enjoys working with patients and helping them improve their quality of life.

Chuck enjoys spending time with his wife Roxane, their children and their grandchildren.

Corey Smith

Corey Smith

Corey has been at Oakland Orthopedic since 1997. He began his career as an orthotic and prosthetic technician, fabricating orthotic and prosthetic devices. He went on to become a BOC certified prosthetist, and then an ABC certified prosthetist.

His specialties include: computerized prostheses, fitting of lower extremity prostheses on complex cases, athletic prostheses, general lower extremity prostheses, immediate post-operative prostheses, and pre-amputation consultations. He developed immediate prosthetic protocols for trans-tibial amputees to begin ambulation the day after surgery.

His passion is working with lower extremity amputees. It is his priority to work as part of a rehabilitation team, to ensure that his patients are able to return to a functional lifestyle.

Corey enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

Dan Oslin

Dan is an ABC certified orthotist. He graduated from Northwestern University. He has 25 years of clinical experience, specializing in custom orthotics, spasticity management, stance control KAFOs and gait analysis. He has over 15 years experience as pediatric specialist with strong emphasis on lower extremity AFOs, cranial remolding orthoses and scoliosis management.

Dan enjoys spending time with his family and fly fishing.

Gigi Joseph

Gigi is a board certified prosthetist and orthotist. He has 19 years experience in the orthotic and prosthetic field. He works at the Saginaw location, and is the clinical manager for that location. He has a bachelor’s degree in prosthetics and orthotics.

Gigi enjoys spending time with his family and traveling.

Jeff has been in healthcare for nearly 20 years in the physical therapy field. For the past 13 years, he has been in the orthotic field as a certified orthotic assistant. He primarily covers the Mt. Pleasant, Midland and Saginaw areas. His main objective is working with Oakland Orthopedic’s team of orthotics and prosthetic professionals, to achieve the highest level of care for his patients. He enjoys interacting with referrals to come up with the best solutions for mutual patients.

Jeff enjoys spending time outdoors at his cabin, and with his family.

Neil has been at Oakland Orthopedic for 41 years. He is an ABC certified orthotist. He enjoys working with patients and following their progress. He enjoys fabricating custom orthotic devices.

Neil enjoys hunting, fishing and traveling to the Upper Peninsula. He also enjoys spending time with his grandchildren.

Ken is a board certified pedorthist and orthotic assistant. He tries to be the best patient advocate that he can be. Ken is not only a practitioner, but is also a patient. He is a below knee amputee and his daughter has a form of muscular dystrophy.

Thane is an American Board for Certification (ABC) Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist, who graduated from St. Petersburg College with a bachelor’s of science in orthotics & prosthetics. He became interested in prosthetics as this field enabled him to make improvements in people’s lives and to use and apply new technologies.

He is looking forward to providing excellent care, education, and service to his patients while utilizing appropriate advanced technology. Thane is certified in Ossur’s Rheo microprocessor knee for above knee amputees, Freedom Innovations Plie` 3.0 knee, Otto Bock’s C-leg and Michelangelo Hand, among other brands and components.

Thane likes to spend time with his wife, daughter and son. He enjoys going to church, photography, watching college sports, and being active outdoors.

Wendi has 17 years experience as an ABC certified fitter of orthotics. She enjoys assisting patients with their bracing needs and the outcome that follows.
Wendi enjoys traveling, water sports and spending time with her family. She occasionally volunteers with cancer patients and the mentally impaired.

Wonda Adams

Wonda has been at Oakland Orthopedic for over 20 years. She received her training at Northwestern University. She worked in the Saginaw area since 1999. She works closely with orthopedic surgical groups in Saginaw, to provide excellent care for their patients. She has a passion for patient care. She helped establish the “walk with me” program, to provide crutches, walkers and walking aids, free of charge to patients in need. She collaborated with Dr. Wolohan, Corey Smith, CP, physicians and volunteers in Tanzania, Africa; to provide an above knee prosthesis for a young girl via Skype appointments.

Wonda enjoys spending time with her family. She also enjoys music, old movies and reading.

Amy Began at Oakland Orthopedic Appliances in June 2015. Amy graduated from Great Lakes Junior College in Medical Transcription. Upon graduating and in the work force, she acquired knowledge experience in medical billing/manager. She has been in billing for 19 years and practice management for 12 years. She has done billing and management for all sorts of specialties including professional, institutional, lab and ambulance. Amy also owns her own billing service and works out of her home in the evening. Amy does billing, payment posting, works rejections, credentialing, and other office duties when required. She also helps with the charity donations done through Oakland Orthopedics.

Amy enjoys time with her friends and family, fishing, boating, shopping, antiquing, and spending as much time as she can up north at her cabin in the U.P.

Heather started at Oakland Orthopedic in 2015 at our Mt. Pleasant location.  She came to us from another O&P company and enjoys the field very much.  Since she started at Oakland, she has enjoyed developing relationships with the doctors offices, AFC homes and patients.

In her spare time, Heather enjoys spending time with her family.

I have been with Oakland for 15 years. Through my years of service here at Oakland I’ve enjoyed developing relationships with the other staff members, physicians, therapists, nurses, and of course our patients. It is important to me that people feel acknowledged when they walk through our door and leave happy with the service we’ve provided.

During my time away form work, my life is my family. I have to beautiful, smart little girls that keep my husband and me on our toes! We enjoy being outside when the Michigan weather permits and working on refinishing furniture.

Venesa started at Oakland in October 2015  She has over 16 years of experience in working as a medical office professional.  Venesa has a professional certificate in medical office administration from Delta College.  Along with a medical office professional certificate, she also has 12 years of medical billing experience.  Patient care and satisfaction is of the utmost importance for her.  having patients leave with a smile on their face and satisfied with their care is a perfect ending of a day for Venesa.  she is very caring, compassionate and takes her work very seriously.

In her spare time, Venesa spends all of her time with her two beautiful daughters.  She also likes to shop, travel, bonfires, and going to the beach.

Jennifer has over 18 years experience in the O&P field.  She has been with Oakland Orthopedic for 12 years.  Jennifer graduated from Northwood University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.  She has held several positions throughout her career in O&P.  Since 2011, she has been the billing and compliance manager.  She ensures that Oakland Orthopedic is in compliance with all Medicare guidelines and up to date with their ABC accreditation.

Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, golfing and spending time outdoors.
